RCA 74B upgraded ribbon microphone
A classic ribbon mic from RCA, fully restored and upgraded by Stewart here at Xaudia. It sounds as good as it looks.
The mic has been cleaned and serviced, looks great and is in perfect working order, with a new ribbon and new balanced cable wired to XLR. Inside, the mic has been cleaned and re-wired, and fitted with an Extinct Audio low noise output transformer which gives a deeper bass response and better signal to noise than the standard 74B transformer.
The microphone body has been stripped and refinished in satin black powder coat. The grills are original chrome in very good condition. Please see the photos for cosmetic condition. New grill cloths have been fitted.
This would make a great microphone for vocals, guitars or as a room microphone – or pretty much anywhere you would reach for a big ribbon mic.
Output impedance is 250 ohms, ideal for all modern consoles and preamps.
Supplied with a wooden box and thread adapter to fit the mic on a modern 5/8″ microphone stand. (Or 3/8″ if you prefer)
