RSA R1 Ribbon microphone
This is a very early 1930s British microphone that has been fully restored at Xaudia and is ready for use in a modern studio.
It has a new ribbon and cable, and replacement grills and cloths have been fitted to make it sound less boxy and increase the bass response. I can include the original grills on request.
The transformer has been re-wound onto the original laminations to get an output impedance of 250 ohms., which gives a better output voltage and signal to noise into modern (post 1970s) preamps.
The mic body has been cleaned and refinished in a tough textured paint which is similar to how it would have looked when new. I have fitted a thread adapter to the yoke for use with modern 5/8″ mic stands.
This is the best RSA mic I have heard.
