HMV / EMI 2350 Ribbon microphone
Vintage EMI PM245 bi-directional ribbon microphone. This is serviced 1940s ribbon microphone that is ready for use in a modern studio.
This has a lovely warm and dark tone and a figure-8 pattern with a big bass proximity effect.
This microphone has been fitted with new ribbon and cable wired to XLR output, and a replacement 300 ohm output transformer. It comes with EMI-badged original wooden box and I will include a thread adapter for modern mic stands.
(note: These mics usually have a 15 ohm output which is a very low output voltage designed for 1930s equipment. I have changed the transformer to give a good output into modern equipment, and will also include the original transformer for you to use as a paperweight, if you want it.)
You can read a bit more about the history of these microphones on the Coutant Website.
